Emerging Leader Network

ELN is a network of specialized schools of ministry for college age students. Each ELN program is based in a local church, utilizing a model of full-time, immersive training, designed to take passionate young leaders and help them become skilled and empowered disciples, ready to transform the world with Jesus’ love.

In a traditional college-type setting, you show up periodically for class. But in an ELN school of ministry, you are engaged in 24-7 “immersion discipleship.” The military uses immersive training as well — it’s called boot camp — and it’s how they make soldiers out of civilians in a short, intense period of time. It’s also how Jesus prepared his disciples, taking a group of ordinary guys and developing them into world changers.

HEAD, HANDS & HEART Immersion discipleship impacts every area of a student’s life: head, hands and heart.

Picture
1. HEAD
“And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God” (1 John 5:20a NLT).
Engaging in an intentional and well developed curriculum is an important part of every ELN program. Students grow in remarkable ways as they are equipped to understand God’s Word and who they are in Christ.

2. HANDS
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV).
ELN programs utilize an in-the-trenches approach to developing ministry skills. Students don’t just learn “about” ministry, but are trusted to step out and “do” ministry, discovering the beauty and power of authentically giving themselves for others.

3. HEART
“Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22).
Who you are is even more important than what you know and what you can do. Because of this reality, trusted pastors and leaders build relationship with students in ELN programs, encouraging them and holding them accountable as they move to new levels of faith and personal excellence. It is through this critical “heart” piece of immersion discipleship that students form the rock-sold foundation needed to live out God’s call in their lives.
